Description

Indoor Rowing races over both 500 and 1000 metres, shall be conducted on a Concept 2 rowing machine as provided at the venue.  Events will be conducted in age categories, from youngest to oldest, and combined grouping will be allocated by coordinators, depending on entry numbers. A maximum of eight rowers will compete in each race.  Pair racing will be conducted after individual racing and will include ‘same sex’ and ‘mixed’ competitors.  Each of the pair’s competitors will row the full 1000 meters.  The racing program will configure an average, to give a combined result.

Competitors will row their age group and are permitted to row down, in younger age groups.  However, if groups are combined, which is often the case due to competitor numbers, then one age group must be chosen by the competitor.  For Example, you may row the Open age group and then your age group, if the events are over two separate races.  It is more usual to row your age group in the Individual events (one or both) and then combine in a Pairs event with a younger competitor.)  Remember the events can be quite gruelling, so please consider your fitness level, when entering multiple races.

Events will be conducted in the following order.  500 metre Individual (female, male), 1000 metre Individual (female, male), 1000 metre ‘same sex’ Pairs (female, male), Mixed Pairs.  A Novelty Teams event will be offered at the completion of the competition proper, with prizes for the winning combination.

All events will be conducted by Rowing Victoria qualified personnel.  These individuals are active and experienced in the sport of rowing and will have overall control of the competition, and any issues or disputes that may arise.

PLEASE NOTE:  No additional entries will be accepted on the day.  Please seek out other athletes/rowers from your Service (or other) and have your teams and events organised prior to the event.
