5 X 5 Basketball – NEW for 2025 – 2 Day Competition:
- Day 1: Men’s & Women’s Teams
- Day 2: Mixed Teams
Competitors will compete in round robin style tournament with finals to determine medals.
Pending player registration numbers, there will be multiple divisions for each competition. (Example, Division A/B/C)
Aims for the event:
- Increase female participation.
- Increase country member participation.
- Increase smaller emergency organisation’s participation.
- By having a 2-day tournament allow participants to compete in both days if desired.

Times: Games commencing at 9AM and concluding at approximately 5PM.

This venue is an eight-court stadium.
Selkirk Stadium is Western Victoria’s home of Major Sports Events. Over 8,000 participants use the facility each week through Basketball, Netball and other sporting activities. The centre boasts a 3,000 seat show court ideal for showcase events such as the NBL, WNBL, Suncorp Netball and other major national events. A Retail store is located in the concourse of the venue including Basketball and Netball equipment or apparel along with a Café including a range of high-quality food and drink. Overall, the facility has 8 multi-use courts separated into three separate areas.
Stage 2 build has now been completed which includes three 3x3 Outdoor Basketball Courts, High Performance Centre including Gym and Running Track, Façade Upgrade of original Wendouree Netball Centre, Learning Spaces, Function Room and Dining Area.
Special Instructions
**ALL PLAYERS will need to register on both the VPESG Registration Portal & PlayHQ portals. Instructions will be communicated upon registration though VPESG Portal. ***
Games Format
Men's/Women’s - The format will be standard FIBA Olympic Rules.
- Match duration to be confirmed (Pending registration numbers)
- Division’s A/B/C (Pending registration numbers)
Mixed – The format will be standard FIBA Olympic Rules with the following conditions:
- Minimum of 2 female players on court at all times
- Females in the key both ends first half
- Males in the key both ends second half
- 10 Points maximum per person per game. Resets once all players on a team have maxed out
- Match duration to be confirmed (Pending registration numbers)
- Division’s A/B/C (Pending registration numbers)
First Aid & Injury Prevention / Management
First aid officers will be provided for the duration of the event.
* We are in the process of organising suitably qualified people to provide physio, sports massage, injury prevention/management for the duration of the event.
Teams & Individual Events
Teams
- Mens/Women’s Teams to consist of 5 or more players (Maximum 10).
- Mixed Teams to consist of 5 or more players (Maximum 10) and MUST contain minimum of 2 Women on court at all times.
Please note: Referees will be provided but teams will need to provide people to score. Score bench can be substituted players. Please remember people who are scoring must remain professional towards officials.
Post Event Function
We will have a medal ceremony and small get together after each day of competition. Please join us at the Conference Room at the stadium. We would really encourage you all to attend and have a chance to meet new people from across the Emergency Management sector!
